This year Waltham Forest is the first ever London Borough of Culture and I am excited to be showing my project Trousseau on home turf as part of the E17 Art Trail 2019
I was born and grew up in Walthamstow and Trousseau traces my maternal line through the local streets, looking at the lives of my women ancestors – a remarkably resilient bunch of maids, laundresses and char women. I have added some new pieces especially for this show.
Trousseau will be at different venues: firstly with the brilliant textile artist, Lynda McDonald, on Howard Road; it then transfers to Vestry House Museum 12 to 16 June, open 10am to 5pm. *Now extended till 30 July 2019.
